Every knitter knows that you can't just be knitting one thing at a time. It's not because I have trouble finishing projects (which I do) or that we quickly get inspired by something new (which I do too). Mostly it's because of the need to maximize the P.K.T. (Possible Knitting Time).
My project #1 is for those quiet nights- with no distraction. Even then I goof it up.
It's Ella shawl from Knitty. It's going pretty good except that it's really bumpy. Does anyone know if this will come out once the piece is blocked?
Project #2 is a little Sky Blue Alpaca Elephant. This is a project that can be done when other people are around- but you still need to pay attention more often then not. Currently I've really bodged up the head. I read ssk and assumed it was slip slip knit. Not so! Slip slip knit two together. Why isn't the symbol ssk2tg? Stupid. Anyway, I just have to take out like 10 rows- but those who know me know how much it PAINS me to go back and redo work. I'm a bit worried to when I get to the truck. Looks kind of tricky.
Project #3 is my very own Hogwortish scarf. Most of the girls in the knitting group have produced one of these fantastic scarfs. They are superdedooper cheep (Bernat Silky 2.50 ish a ball) and really feel quite lovely and warm. They are knit in the round with stripes of 22 rows. The originals were all Hogwarts colours but for the next generation we decided on ice cream colours. (Mine's mint chocolate chip.)
I've made scores of cozy scarves in my day- but they've all been presents. It's fun doing one for myself.
Anyway, this is the project I can watch a movie (or read) and knit. Totally and absolutely mindless. And really fast which is gratifying in itself.
My project d'jour is a little elephant for little baby "Eden Scout". I made the bear pattern from "Knitted Gifts" for Baby Brucie, and it turned out perfectly. Now I'm on the little elli.
I'm using a 50%Alpaca and 50% silk blend in Ice Blue.
Here's one finished that I found out "there" but I think the yarn I'm using will make it turn out a bit smoother.
Here's hoping.
So far I have two arms and one and a half legs done...
